The 2025 Formula 1 season has been one of the most competitive that fans have seen in a while. With the title fight still hanging in the balance, there’s so much more to come.

Despite Oscar Piastri’s domination the last few months, Lando Norris has extended his lead following last weekend’s Brazillian Grand Prix, and the previous trip to the USA at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA).

Piastri seems to have settled comfortably into fifth place over the last three races with Norris growing their points gap in either first or second place.

Norris currently leads by 36 points, a gap fans never would’ve seen coming earlier in the season.

Max Verstappen started from the pit lane in São Paulo after a miserable qualifying that led to a new engine. He managed to pull it back and finish on the podium, showing fans exactly why he’s a four time world champion. Skill that means he’s not out of the title fight – yet. But, if he loses nine points or more to Norris in Las Vegas, he’ll no longer be in championship contention.

The other red bull, Yuki Tsunoda, didn’t fare so well, qualifying 19th and finishing in the last racing position of 17th.

Two of the three DNFs last race came from one of Formula 1’s most iconic racing teams, Ferrari. The team left the race with no points after a bump from Piastri slid Kimi Anotonelli’s car into the side of Charles Leclerc’s.

Lewis Hamilton’s race also came to an early end, after floor damage following a racing incident. The team has had difficulty over the last few races and that doesn’t seem to be easing up.

Unlike Ferrari, Mercedes are comfortably holding onto second in the constructors championship for now. With a both drivers claiming a podium in the sprint race and Antonelli claiming second place in the main race, the team continues to fight to maintain that second place.

Despite Williams currently claiming the title of ‘best of the rest’ in fifth place in the constuctors championship, Racing Bulls excelled this weekend with their drivers finishing seventh and eighth.

Neither of the Williams drivers managed to score any points and with the Racing Bulls speeding up, there’s still a lot to race for.

Aston Martin continue to fly under the radar, as it feels they have done for most of this season. Even with Adrian Newey on side, it seems like their car is yet to see the effects of his genius.

Haas, on the other hand, have been making waves with multiple top ten finishes this season. Their Rookie driver, Ollie Bearman, has been surprising everyone and setting team records after finishing in the points for the last four races. Proving that the team is still one to be reckoned with.

Franco Colapinto continues to struggle in the Alpine, and Pierre Gasly seems to be in a better spot by claiming the last point of the race in 10th.

Finally Kick Sauber, a team that has had its highest highs and lowest lows this season. After the strategy and driving masterclass they demonstrated at Silverstone, it seems people expected they might be able to carry that momentum forward. Nico Hulkenburg and Gabriel Borteleto continue to struggle in the car with Borteleto DNFing and Hulkenburg taking 9th place.

The title fight continues to be the most exciting part of this season, but Piastri seems to be falling behind. Will we be racing to the chequered flag in Abu Dhabi or will the championship be decided to the finish line?

It’s all left to race for in our third trip to the USA, this weekend.
